Mindfulness: Sustainable Stress Management in Ottawa

Is your mind full, or are you mindful? Mindfulness for inner peace facilitates our ability to live in the present moment. I have found the practice of mindfulness to be an excellent method for stress management, even in the most difficult of times. This is why I have integrated mindfulness training into my Full Circle Healing Ottawa practice. Learning the art of mindfulness is like riding a bike: once you learn to do it, you’ll never forget. Studies show that it is never too late to learn and benefit from increased mindful awareness.

Learn How to use Mindfulness for Stress Management

The majority of us tend to think too much, unaware of how this unconscious habit can negatively affect our psychological, spiritual, and physical well-being.  Instead of being present, we ruminate, worrying helplessly about past and future, judging ourselves and others. By focusing on the present moment, you can quiet the mind with a compassionate inner-peace. This has been shown to be one of the most effective stress management strategies.

What are Mindfulness Techniques Good For?

Research on the benefits of practicing mindfulness has grown exponentially in recent years. Studies have shown mindfulness techniques to be effective in relieving both physical and mental suffering. Mindfulness is also known to reduce sensitivity to pain, improve immune system function, and lower anxiety. Conscious presence enhances concentration, self-control, improves our ability to solve problems, and helps us adapt to new experiences.  By becoming more mindful, we are attempting to replace our typical fight/flight/freeze reactions with calmness, compassion, and grace.

The Dalai Lama Muscle

By taking part in my local Ottawa mindfulness clinic, I can help you shift your attention away from repetitive thoughts and towards body awareness. Consciously attending to the rhythm of our breath and pulse helps us let go of needless mind-chatter. This liberates you from negative thoughts, the accompanying angst, and replaces them with the stillness of the present moment. This presence is what I call your ‘Dalai Lama muscle’. Regular mindfulness practice can dramatically improve the quality of your life experience.
